Summary
Inspired by Storyteller Die, this one has you improvising an instruction manual for an unusual object. One player is the Pointer, calling out chapter titles (like "The History of [Object]") and pointing at players in a line. When the finger lands on you, add to the manual, picking up right where the last person's thought or sentence left off. Here's the catch: if you stumble or stutter, the audience shouts "die!". That caps off that chapter, and the Pointer launches a fresh title. The Pointer can pile on extra challenges too, like accents or rhyme.
How to Play
- Line up together.
- Grab a suggestion for an object that would never normally come with an instruction manual.
- One player takes on the pointer/director role.
- The pointer announces a chapter title (like "The History of OBJECT") and points at a player.
- The player who's pointed at kicks off a sentence.
- The pointer swings to other players, who jump in and continue the sentence right away.
- If someone pauses, stutters, or can't carry it on, the audience shouts "DIE!".
- On a "DIE!", the pointer rolls into the next chapter title.
- The pointer can toss in extra challenges, like accents or rhyming.
Required Materials
- It helps to have players in a line everyone can see. And you'll need an audience suggestion for an unusual object.
Purpose
Variations
- The game is an adapted version of "Story Conductor".
- The pointer can add challenges like accents or doing the manual in rhyme.
- Story with Endowments is a variation where, upon elimination, the audience suggests a new genre for the story to continue in.
- Can include charts, parts lists, or foreign language sections.
- Similar to Storyteller Die.
